Care Day 2022 - It takes a village to raise a child.

18/02/2022 - the 7th International Care Day focuses on children and young people in care!

The 7th International Care Day will take place on 18 February 2022. This day is dedicated to those children and young people who spend or have spent part of their lives in alternative care.

Since its foundation 30 years ago, CONCORDIA has been caring for children and young people who, for various reasons, cannot grow up with their biological parents. This day is an occasion to raise public awareness of the special and diverse challenges of children and young people in alternative care, and at the same time an opportunity to share experiences and network among children and young people, and all those who accompany them on their journey through life.

This year's theme "It takes a village" focuses on how different people in communities and caregivers outside the family of origin can have a positive influence on children and young people and how important these relationships are in shaping the lives of children and young people in alternative care. They have usually experienced a lot at an early age and have been confronted with various stresses and crises that leave their mark. Creating trust, giving identity and support are particularly important for them. They need continuous attention and understanding people around them.

We are very proud of the many young people we are privileged to accompany on their journey through life!
As a global day of action, this year's exchange will take place exclusively online, via the community platform changemakersforchildren.

Here we share a few voices of young "careleavers" and colleagues who are a daily support for children and young people in CONCORDIA accommodation with a lot of patience and understanding.
